The Answer to California's Budget Deficit

Good news to all of us in California. The governator has come up with a plan to solve the budget crisis. He's gonna tax the shit out of us.

Seriously.

He is proposing an increase in personal state income taxes, sales taxes and gasoline taxes (our gas prices are already among the highest in the nation.)

He is forcing state workers to take two unpaid days a month.

AND, as a bonus, we get to look forward to an IOU instead of a state tax refund this year. Just fucking fabulous.

Maybe we'll get lucky and have that big earthquake and fall into the ocean.

That IOU may take longer to pay back than everyone thinks... the hospital that delivered that wacky woman's octuplets is applying to Medi-Cal to pay her hospital bill....

I'm sorry. I live in CT, and our taxes are pretty ludicrous too, but at least our Governor has said no to increasing them to help our budget shortfall.

Moving to a year round warm climate and becoming homeless seems like more and more to be a good option. No taxes, never late for work, no bills, and you can get food at the local grocers and restaurants that they toss that are still good. If you get sick just go to the ER like everyone else does and never pay the bill.:)

well, when it is February and I am outside in my shorts and everything is blooming, green and beautiful and you all are up to your asses in snow, it is pretty easy to remember why I live here :)

And you get to spend a lot of time sitting in your car, on the freeway, appreciating just how much fun it is to park in California. :-)

You won't fall into the ocean, anyway. You have had two disastrous earthquakes in the past 20 years and the earthquakes don't kill as many people as the weather does on this coast. And we will be visited by the Tax Fairy, too.

You're fortunate to have the 'governator' you've got. As a fellow ED-RN I look forward to a high level of integrity in your postings. I think what you meant to write was "He is forcing NON-ESSENTIAL state workers to take two unpaid days a month". Are the state's ED RNs not essential?

Part of the answer to this financial mess we're in is that young'uns need to prepare themselves to provide 'essential' services so they can remain employed during their life.
