Once again the government proves that they are idiots

Home dialysis. It is cheaper, safe, more effective and results in less hospitalizations.

In the article one of the patients had even returned to work, another was off all his blood pressure medications.

But it has to be done 6 times a week instead of the three treatments done in the dialysis clinic so Medicare won't pay for it.

They won't pay for it even though it is cheaper than the clinic treatments as well as savin money on hospitalizations. The government is made up of pencil pushing, bean counting MORONS!!!!!

I have no doubt that my mom would have lived longer if this had been available to her. She lived 14 miles from her treatment center, and near the end of her life often skipped treatments b/c of weather or lack of a ride.
I'm glad for future kidney patients, and hope this will become widely available very soon.

Yeah, I know all about this. My dad is a Nephrologist and he has a few patients that do it - but it costs a fortune.

That sounds so nice! I hope it quickly becomes the standard of care, but I can't say I'm holding my breath.

Just now, you are noticing that those in the government are doing whatever they do for reasons that are not logical? :-)

The money to pay for this isn't their money.

The bodies being treated aren't theirs.

Why should they care?

But they may require that somebody like JCAHO come in and order remodeling of the home to be permitted to use this treatment.

I will make sure to fight universal health care on every turn because Medicare is the worst thing to ever happen. I work for an insulin pump company and it seems like every day I have to turn an insulin dependent "type 2" diabetic away because Medicare still thinks that those people can easily treat their disease with diet and excersize. Meanwhile they have enormous a1Cs and they are already short a foot. Can someone explain this to me?
