Ahhh, the ER. Where else do your employers expect you to take physical and verbal abuse with a smile and an offer to do more to meet the abusers needs?

Plus, as you know, the abuser will complain to management who will rush him or her back to the only available bed. At least this is how it is in my experience. Then there will be a massive work-up for the long term HA or chronic back pain. This because his own physician is tired of dealing with the requests for narcs when they are not really justified.
In the mean time the next patient will be the CP who should have called an ambulance, but did not want to bother the EMT's AND REALLY NEEDS THAT BED!
Ahhhh, much like the long term care facility that has too many empty rooms (because of a lousy rep due to lousy admin, but thats a very nice Jag you're driving). Where the Administrators buzz words of the month are: LOW CENSUS. Where they charge more per room, and expect more of the already overtaxed nurses/aides. Strange how the abuse/care increases but the pay does not. Then we read on CNN about the nursing shortage crisis. xoxoxo.
Thanks very much for visiting, I hope you will enjoy yourself. ER nurses have the privilege of being on the front lines, nowhere else in the hospital are things so chaotic and out of control on a regular basis. This either breeds or attracts a certain kind of person, you will find they have a terrific sense of teamwork as well as well developed senses of humor.
Stories here are composites of experiences I have had in many years of practice. Any resemblance to people living or dead are purely coincidental. If you think this is you, it is not. Events portrayed as recent are not. Stories are products of past experiences and a vivid storytelling bent.
These are my own opinions, no one elses. As people that know me can attest, I have a lot of opinions!
If you take my writing as medical advice then you are an idiot.

Considering the holiday, I was thinking in Iraq and Afghanistan.
While there are plenty of places to debate the politics, the troops are working under some conditions that make our jobs look like a vacation.
We need to be thankful that there are people willing to endure this for their country.
I do not think that you were suggesting otherwise.

In answer to your question:
Restaurants.
But at least in food service, the patrons are slightly less likely to bleed or puke on you while berating you.
