Hospitals spend a lot of time and money on recruiting nurses. A lot of the nurses they recruit are inexperienced new grads.
At the same time they do nothing to keep their experienced staff happy so they often leave seeking greener pastures.
Why not spend a little time and effort keeping your experienced nursing staff which is your best resource? If your staff didn't keep leaving you wouldn't have to spend so much money on recruitment.
Duh.

Oh now stop it. You are just making sense, silly girl!
Steve
My Ex Girl friend just signed a deal for a new job that amounted to a 25,000 bonus...
Those of us who are staying behind get: a free pressed turkey dinner at christmas(the beak, claws, and various other body parts best not mentioned)!!
Go figure!
Amen, sista!
The sad truth is that the administrators seem to think that new grads are cheaper.
Dummies. Hourly wages may be lower, but you have to orient them and there isn't a nurse in my unit who's been there less than 3 years who can come close to carrying the patient load I can manage. Safely.
What can you expect from the people who buy the think paper towels because each one costs less -- and it now takes 5 paper towels to dry one pair of hands when it used to take 2.
